Our Logo

The logo of the Interdisciplinary Research Society represents the main values of the Society – integration and overlap.

The logo is represented by a modified Venn diagram, which takes a form of a lotus blossom. The different shapes of the lotus petals represent different disciplines or areas of knowledge which, combined under the Gestalt principle, comprise a single entity – the shape of the lotus, a symbol of enlightenment and a metaphor for science. The overlap of disciplines gives birth to yet new ones, as with overlapping fields of color in a Venn Diagram, which result in yet other colors – a metaphor for interdisciplinary exchange and integration.

The colors used in the logo are blue and orange. Blue represents wisdom and the search for truth and orange represents creativity and enthusiasm, which are necessary traits for those seeking to perform interdisciplinary research.
